The tendency and capacity of the metal to sustain maximum axial load before breaking.
BEND TEST
The tendency and capacity of the metal to bend or a method to check its maximum ductility.
HARDNESS TEST
This test measures the hardness or the resistance to scratching of the metal.
FLATTENING TEST
This test is carried out on hollow specimens like round pipes. The measure of ductility of the pipe metal along the radial direction when the load is applied in perpendicular direction.
DRIFT EXPANDING TEST
This test is carried out on hollow specimens like round pipes. The measure of ductility of the pipe metal when the load is applied in radially outward direction.
FLARING/ FLANGING TEST
The measure of ductility of the pipe metal along the radial direction.
PROOF LOAD TEST
The measure for the strength of threads.
IMPACT TEST
Sudden application of load is exerted on the metal for checking its toughness.
WELDER QUALIFICATION TEST
Under this test welding qualification of welder and its procedure is done.
CHEMICAL ANALYSIS
OPTICAL EMISSION SPECTROMETRIC (OES) ANALYSIS
The metal sample is excited by the application of spark. The spectrum of light emitted by the metal is detected by the optics, which further analyses the light spectrum by separating it as per different wavelengths.
Ferrous metal.
Non-ferrous metal- Zinc base, copper base and aluminium base.
METALLOGRAPHY TEST
It is the analysis of the microstructure of the ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The grain structure, phase distribution, inclusion ratings and case depth of the metal is identified.
MISCELLENIOUS TEST
GALVANIZING TEST
The determination of coating thickness of zinc on zinc coated iron and steel articles.
